The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Controller to join our leadership team and take full ownership of CCi Voice’s financial operations and administrative functions. Reporting directly to the Chief of Staff and General Manager, this is a high-visibility, high-impact role for a financially rigorous leader who can both manage the numbers and lead a team. You will serve as the financial accountability authority within the organization — owning policy, driving accuracy, and developing the people on your team.
Roles & Responsibilities
Financial Oversight & Accounting Operations
- Oversee all accounting and financial processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger management
- Own the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
- Maintain and enforce internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and daily liquidity
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare and present monthly financial statements, variance analyses, and management reports to senior leadership
- Develop and monitor key financial metrics aligned with company goals, including revenue growth, gross profit performance and net profit margin
- Support EOS-based quarterly and annual planning by providing accurate financial data for Rock-setting and scorecard tracking
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax requirements; coordinate with our external CPA firm as needed
- Manage sales tax filings, Connecticut & NY State business compliance requirements, and any applicable telecom-specific regulatory obligations through external compliance agency
- Identify financial risk areas and recommend corrective action
Team Leadership & People Management
- Lead, manage, and hold accountable the Finance and Admin team — setting clear expectations, conducting regular 1-on-1s, and drive team performance in alignment with company goals
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration within the department
- Identify staffing needs, support hiring decisions, and contribute to onboarding and development of team members
Policy Authority & Contract Oversight
- Serve as a significant decision maker on financial policies along with the CEO, manage vendor contracts, and service agreements — ensuring alignment with company strategy and risk tolerance
- Review, negotiate, and approve financial terms in vendor and service contracts, escalating to the GM as appropriate
- Establish and maintain documented financial policies that support operational consistency and scalability
Accuracy & Process Integrity
- Review and ensure the accuracy of all accounting and financial processes, serving as the final internal checkpoint before reporting reaches leadership
- Enforce adherence to established accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls across the finance and admin team
- Conduct periodic process audits to identify gaps, reduce error rates, and drive continuous improvement
Strategic Support
- Partner with the GM and leadership team on financial modeling, pricing analysis, and investment decisions
- Support commission and compensation plan administration, including gross profit margin-based calculations
- Contribute financial insight to customer contract analysis, rate structures, and month-to-month to long-term agreement conversion initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred
- 5-8 years of progressive accounting or financial management experience, including direct people management
- Demonstrated experience leading and holding accountable a finance or accounting team - LMA — Lead, Manage, (hold) Accountable
- Proven experience managing full-cycle accounting functions in a small-to-mid-size company environment
- Strong proficiency with accounting Quickbooks accounting software; willingness and aptitude to learn cloud-based billing software (TimelyBill).
- Working knowledge of state tax regulations (Connecticut & NY) and business compliance requirements
- Experience in a service-based, subscription, or SaaS/UCaaS business is a plus
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational discipline, and the ability to meet recurring deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills and comfort presenting financial data to non-financial stakeholders

$70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
